NERC Parleys Sokoto Residents, Facilitates Complaints Resolution
As it has been its tradition, the Commission held the first townhall and complaints resolution meeting for this year in Sokoto, Sokoto State where it engaged residents on their rights and obligations as well as facilitated complaints resolution by a team from Kaduna Electric.
During the townhall meeting, Dr Babatunde Zubair, Head of Consumer Enlightenment who spoke on behalf of the NERC Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, highlighted some customer rights and obligations enshrined in the Customer Protection Regulations 2023.
They include the right to fair billing, to have their complaints addressed and to be notified before disconnection.
Customers also have the obligation to pay their electricity bills on time and avoid using unauthorised personnel to connect to electricity.
Starting after the meeting, NERC officials facilitated the customer complaints resolution session and that continued for two days to ensure that substantial complaints by the customers of Kaduna Electric were addressed.
