NERC EMBARKS ON STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH NYSC TO EDUCATE NIGERIANS ON ELECTRICITY RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS
Officials of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) paid a working visit to the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) today in Abuja.
The visit was aimed at establishing a framework through which NYSC members could be mobilized to disseminate vital information on electricity consumer rights and responsibilities across the country.
This initiative is part of NERC’s broader efforts to enhance electricity literacy among Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots level. During the meeting, the AGM Consumer Enlightenment NERC, Mrs. Regina Osuagwu highlighted the critical role that NYSC members, who are deployed across the nation, can play in educating communities about the services they are entitled to from electricity providers, as well as their duties as consumers.
She emphasized that a well-informed public is essential for achieving the Commission's goal of ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in the electricity sector.
The Director-General of the NYSC, Brig. Gen. Yusha’u D. Ahmed, welcomed the initiative and expressed the Scheme’s readiness to collaborate with NERC. He noted that the partnership aligns with the NYSC’s mandate of national integration and development.
