Punch Newspaper Management Pays Courtesy Visit to NERC, Seeks Stronger Collaboration on Public Enlightenment
On 6th March 2026, the management team of The Punch newspaper paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Reaffirming the publication’s commitment to supporting transparency, public enlightenment, and effective communication within Nigeria’s electricity supply industry.
Receiving the delegation at the Commission’s headquarters, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr Musiliu Oseni, welcomed the engagement and highlighted the critical role of the media in shaping public understanding of developments within the power sector.
He emphasised that accurate information is essential to strengthening consumer confidence and promoting a more informed public discourse on electricity regulation.
The Chairman underscored the importance of educating Nigerians on how electricity tariffs are set, noting that tariff determination is a structured and data‑driven process grounded in regulatory principles.
He announced that the Commission is developing comprehensive fact sheets that will clearly explain how electricity costs are determined, with the aim of making sector information more accessible, transparent, and easier for consumers to understand.
The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to explore avenues for deeper collaboration in public sensitization and responsible sector reporting.
