NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PETITION FILED BY THE TRANSMISSION COMPANY OF NIGERIA PLC ON THE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PLAN ORDER

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (the “Commission”) issued Order No. NERC/2025/043 – Order on the Performance Improvement Plan (“PIP”) for the Transmission Company of Nigeria Plc (“TCN”) and the Nigerian Independent System Operator (“NISO”) – with effect from 15 May 2025 to 14 May 2027 (the “PIP Order”).

The PIP Order sets out specific implementation recommendations aimed at enhancing the performance of Nigeria’s transmission network. These include the adoption of competitive procurement practices to ensure value for money and the establishment of a Transmission Infrastructure Fund (TIF) to support critical infrastructure projects and innovative NESI initiatives.

On 23 June 2025, TCN filed a petition challenging key provisions of the PIP Order, citing specific grounds for reconsideration.

Pursuant to section 48 of the Electricity Act 2023 and in the spirit of regulatory transparency and stakeholder engagement, the Commission shall hold a public hearing to consider the issues raised in the petition.

The public hearing is scheduled as follows:

Venue: NERC Headquarters, Plot 1387 Cadastral Zone A00, Central Business District, Abuja FCT. Members of the public and relevant stakeholders are invited to attend.

All interested parties who wish to make submissions may do so at the hearing.
