NERC HOLDS SOUTH-WEST REGIONAL SENSITISATION ON CURBING VANDALISM OF POWER INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE NIGERIAN ELECTRICITY SUPPLY INDUSTRY


The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in partnership with the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) of GIZ, successfully hosted the South-West Regional Sensitisation Workshop on Curbing Vandalism of Power Infrastructure in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

The workshop focused on addressing vandalism and improving the sustainability of Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure, emphasizing the need for collaboration among stakeholders, including sector operators, security agencies, and community leaders.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders from across the power sector, underscoring a shared commitment to addressing the persistent challenge of vandalism and its adverse impact on electricity supply and national development.

In attendance were representatives of the Honourable Minister of Power, Traditional Rulers, MDs and CEOs of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Distribution Companies (DisCos) operating in the South-West region, as well as other critical NESI stakeholders.

The workshop reaffirmed NERC’s commitment, alongside its partners, to promoting stakeholder engagement and regional collaboration as key strategies for enhancing grid stability, improving service delivery and ensuring a resilient and sustainable electricity supply industry.
