NERC Resumes Hearing of Petition By Royal Garden Estate Against EKEDP, Others

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Wednesday heard a petition by the Incorporated Trustees of Royal Garden Estate in Lagos against Eko Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EKEDP), Trojan Estates Limited and Solar Gardens Ltd.
The petitioners represented by their counsel, Robert Emukpoeruo SAN submitted that the estate was disconnected by EKEDP and has been without electricity since May 2024. The disconnection is over disputed outstanding bills on the postpaid bulk meter vending platform.
The counsel also said the residents’ vending payment on the platf orm was active and that the disputed outstanding was not from the section of residents he represented in the estate.
The Managing Director of EKEDP, Rekhiat Momoh, confirmed that the estate was disconnected over outstanding bills.
Chairman of the petition hearing panel and Vice Chairman of NERC, Dr Musiliu Oseni sought an intervening measure and that the Commission will make a ruling to provide an immediate and permanent resolution to the matter.
