NANCES Executives Visit Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission Over Tariff Review
The National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES) paid a visit to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to seek clarification on the recent electricity tariff review and to discuss electricity supply to their various institutions.
Led by their president, Egunjobi Samuelo, the NANCES delegation engaged in a constructive dialogue with NERC officials. The students expressed concerns over the impact of the tariff increase on their education and daily lives. They emphasized the need for affordable electricity, highlighting the financial strain on their institutions.
The Commission provided detailed explanations on the reasons behind the tariff adjustment, citing the rising foreign exchange rates and other determining factors in setting tariffs. The Commission encouraged the students to come together and engage other stakeholders on the policy side in order to get more funding for their institutions.
