Notice of publication of Consultation Paper on Eligible Customers

On May 19th 2017, the Honourable Minister of Power, Works & Housing, invoked the declaration of the Eligible Customer in accordance with the provision of Part II Section 27 of the Electric Power Sector Reform (EPSR), Act 2005. The declaration identified four (4) classes of Eligible Customers in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

Pursuant to the Minister’s declaration, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has published a Consultation Paper on the framework for the implementation of the scheme. The paper has attempted to bring to fore some of the issues that may arise and has indicated the policy direction, consistent with the EPSR Act 2005, towards mitigating the unintended impacts of the declaration of eligibility in the NESI. All stakeholders and members of the public are hereby invited to visit NERC’s website to view and download the Consultation Paper.

In line with the provisions of Section 76(9) of the EPSR Act 2005, the Commission hereby fixes 21 days from the date of publication of this notice for comments, objections and representations from all stakeholders and the general public.  All reactions, comments, queries and further enquiries should be sent for  the Commission’s consideration within 21 days from the date of this publication to  with copies to:
