With 30 years+ post-qualification experience, Augustine is a member of the Nigeria Law School Class of 1986. An international solicitor, Augustine has qualifications and legal practice experience from Nigeria, England & Wales and the Republic of Ireland.
He is a member of several professional and academic associations such as the Nigeria Bar Association, Law Society of England & Wales, Law Society of Ireland and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
With demonstrable first class drafting and advocacy skills, Augustine has successfully completed hundreds of contentious litigation and arbitration disputes in Supreme Courts, Appeal Courts, High Courts and Tribunals in Lagos, London and Dublin. He has drafted and reviewed parliamentary bills for the National Assembly of Nigeria and several states Houses of Assembly such as Bayelsa, Edo, Enugu, Katsina, Kaduna, Ondo and Yobe.
Electricity industry specific courses and training programmes attended by Augustine include Exempted Development Provisions for Micro-Renewables, Connecting Micro Generators to the Electricity Network, European Communities (General Product Safety) Regulations 2004, EC Declaration of Conformity, Revised Process for the Authorisation and Licensing of Generation Stations - Decision CER/07/128 at the National Energy Training Academy, Tourmakeady, Ireland. Augustine also attended courses on The Electricity Industry - Generators, Transmission, Distribution and Supply; Transmission Connected Generators; Emerging Technologies and Opportunities - Wave bob, etc; The Old Energy Policy Triangle - Security of Supply, Sustainability and Competitive Tariffs; Roadmap for Deregulating ESB Tariffs; Interconnection beyond the East-West Interconnector Grid at the Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place, Dublin 1.
Augustine also benefited from a 5-day training programme of NERC in Abuja on the Nigeria Electricity Industry in 2014.
Since 2015, Augustine has been engaged by UNICEF Nigeria as Child Justice Consultant in the European Union funded Support to the Justice Sector in Nigeria programme. He has facilitated training programmes for over 300 Family Court Judges, Magistrates and Assessors, Legal Aid lawyers, Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Prisons Service officers and Social Welfare workers. He advocates for the domestication of the Child’s Rights Act 2003 across Nigeria. He has undertaken research and authored Reports for UNICEF such as Child Justice Bottleneck Analysis, Assessment of the Situation of Children in Conflict with the Law in Nigeria, and Family Courts Capacity Assessment.
Augustine is an internationally published author presently with 5 titles; Legislations for Development for African, Asian, Caribbean and Pacific Countries 2012. (Grosvenor House Publishing Limited, Surrey, England); Volume 1 (Women & Children), Volume 2 (Land & Housing), Volume 3 (Community & Local Government), Volume 4 (Jobs) and Volume 5 (Justice Delivery).
